Public is invited to final input opportunity for Logansport Parks Master Plan on March 13, 2024

The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department is inviting the public to be a part of the final presentation of the 5-Year Master Plan. On Wednesday, March 13th, the Parks Department will hold both an Open House and the formal presentation to the Logansport Parks Board. The open house will begin at 4:30 p.m., and the Parks Board meeting will follow that at 5:30 p.m. This event will take place at the City Council Chambers in the City Building 601 East Broadway, Logansport.

The open house will provide some of the “bones” or structure of the plan, and the meeting will provide the details of that structure. Attendees will be able to see what the goals will be for the next 5 years and how they were determined, as well as the strategies of how those goals are to be accomplished. A proposed mission statement, vision, and value statements will be available to discuss as well. It is the community’s final opportunity for further input and/or changes that may need to be considered.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) requires an updated Master Plan every 5 years to remain eligible for certain state and federal funding opportunities. By going through this process, the Logansport Parks & Recreation Department will create a written document that spells out strategic actions that will act as a guide for sensible facility, program, and service development. This document is based upon community input and feedback through opportunities such as open houses, focus groups, surveys, and other events.

The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department is working with Context Design (Indianapolis), Zec Eight Insights (Indianapolis), and ETC Institute (Olathe, KS) to update the plan. Their goal is to complete the final planning document by April 15, 2024.
