Downtown Traffic Signal Modernization and Conversion of 4th and 5th Streets to Two-Way Traffic

In late 2022, the Indiana Department of Transportation began a traffic signal modernization project in downtown Logansport.

New poles, traffic lights and sensors and crosswalks were installed at intersections on Market and Broadway between 3rd and 6th Streets.

As part of the project, the City of Logansport completed the long-discussed project of converting 4th and 5th Streets from one-way to two-way streets .

The new stoplights on 4th and 5th Streets were activated on Wednesday, June 14, 2023.

4th Street changed from southbound traffic only and will to one lane traveling south and one lane traveling north.

5th Street changed from northbound traffic only to one lane traveling north and one lane traveling south.

Parking is available on both sides of 4th and 5th Streets streets, running in the same directions as traffic flows.

With the new addition to the jail and new jail parking entrance, a 3-way stop has also been added at 4th and High Streets to improve safety at that intersection.

City officials have also shared concerns they have heard from residents about the timing of the signals on Market and Broadway with INDOT.
