The Kitchen and Pavilion Logansport
The Kitchen and Pavilion Logansport is a transformational community investment designed to strengthen downtown Logansport by creating spaces where people gather, learn, celebrate, and build opportunity together.
Made possible through a $5 million grant awarded to the Cass County Community Foundation by Lilly Endowment Inc. through the Giving Indiana Funds for Tomorrow (GIFT VIII) initiative, the project represents a collaborative effort to improve quality of life while expanding access to healthy food, supporting entrepreneurship, and creating new opportunities for community connection.
Located at Fourth and Market Streets in downtown Logansport, the project includes three interconnected elements:
- The Pavilion — a flexible, open-air gathering space that serves as the home of the Logansport Farmers Market while also hosting concerts, festivals, cultural celebrations, nonprofit events, educational programming, and community gatherings.
- The Kitchen — a licensed commercial incubator and demonstration kitchen designed to support food entrepreneurs, culinary education, workforce development, and community programming.
- Community Garden Space — urban growing areas that expand access to fresh, local food while creating opportunities for education and neighborhood engagement.
Together, these spaces create a destination that strengthens relationships between people, food, culture, and community.
Building More Than Buildings
The vision for The Kitchen and Pavilion Logansport was shaped through extensive collaboration among the Cass County Community Foundation, the City of Logansport, the Logansport Redevelopment Commission, community partners, local stakeholders, and future users of the facilities.
Steinberger Construction served as construction manager, KJG Architecture led the design process, and community members helped shape the project’s identity and long-term vision. Branding for The Kitchen and Pavilion Logansport was developed in partnership with Second Street Creative to reflect welcoming, accessible spaces centered on connection and creativity.
Entrepreneurship Through Food
The Kitchen is designed to help aspiring and established food entrepreneurs move from ideas to successful businesses by providing access to professional kitchen facilities, mentoring, business development resources, and culinary education.
To lead this work, the Cass County Community Foundation hired Executive Chef Ryan Bolhuis as Executive Director of Culinary Education and Entrepreneurship. An award-winning chef and nationally recognized food business mentor, Bolhuis previously helped launch more than 200 food and beverage businesses while leading incubator programming in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
His experience helps position The Kitchen as a regional resource for entrepreneurship, workforce development, and innovation within Indiana’s growing food economy.
A Place Where Community Comes to the Table
While the project supports economic development and entrepreneurship, its broader purpose is to strengthen community.
The Kitchen and Pavilion Logansport was created as a place where neighbors gather, cultures are celebrated, businesses begin, families learn together, and visitors experience the community. Farmers markets, festivals, educational classes, demonstrations, concerts, nonprofit events, and cultural celebrations all contribute to making these spaces active throughout the year.
More than physical structures, The Kitchen and Pavilion Logansport represents an investment in relationships—creating welcoming places where people connect, ideas grow, and community continues to evolve together.
