Work at Spencer Park to replace sidewalk, prepare for Christmas in the Park, starting on or after October 27, 2023

The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department has announced that construction work will begin in Spencer Park on or after October 27, 2023.

First, Central Paving will be removing the sidewalk along High Street to be replaced with an 8’ wide asphalt path. It is anticipated that this work will be completed within a week of its starting date. This work is weather dependent. Park users are asked to avoid this area while the construction is taking place.

Then, Parks Staff and contractors will begin set up work for Christmas In the Park. The circular road will be closed to vehicle traffic beginning November 6. Park users should plan to park their vehicles on the north side of High Street or near the lower pavilion to utilize the park. The Parks Department has requested that park users please stay away from working vehicles and the Christmas decor going up in the Park. It could pose a danger especially to kids playing nearby. Walkers, please stay on the sidewalk and roadway. The park will remain closed to daytime vehicle traffic throughout the holidays until the lighting decor has been removed.

Parks Staff will try to keep the restrooms in Spencer Park open as long as possible. Should the temperatures dip to freezing or below, the staff must close the restrooms and water lines.
