Cass County Community Foundation announces groundbreaking for new farmers market pavilion and incubator kitchen

The Cass County Community Foundation is delighted to share that the groundbreaking for the new farmers market pavilion, incubator kitchen, and demo kitchen will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 11am at the site at 4th and Market Streets. The Community Foundation received news in December 2024 that their proposal to build a permanent structure for the farmers market , an incubator kitchen and establish gardening plots was approved for a $5 million grant through Lilly Endowment’s GIFT Phase VIII initiative.

Since December, the CCCF community initiatives committee met, and Steinberger Construction was selected to manage the project build and design. A series of meetings were also held with primary end-users of the facilities and the design teams to produce a structure that will be multi-use and become a downtown icon for local residents and visitors alike. Deanna Crispen, CCCF President & CEO shared, “We continue to be inspired by the community support and the outstanding support of Lilly Endowment. This project represents a major investment in our community and the impact will be felt .not only through the construction which includes local contractors and employees but, in the years to come as the space becomes a gathering place for all.”

The pavilion is anticipated to be completed by fall 2025 and the kitchen in January 2026.
