Halloween in Logansport, Indiana

Logansport, Indiana celebrates Halloween with two nights of trick-or-treating: October 30 and 31 from 6-8 p.m. Some see it as an opportunity to use one night to hand out candy at their own homes and the other to enjoy the tradition of trick-or-treating in their neighborhoods. Others say it provides a rain date in case of bad weather. And many enjoy visiting neighbors on both nights! The segment of East Broadway known as The Boulevard is a popular destination where neighbors go all out to welcome trick-or-treaters.

A few days before Halloween, Logansport’s downtown revitalization organization, Logan’s Landing, hosts the Downtown Spooktacular, where downtown businesses hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. You can also check out the scarecrows along Broadway and Market Streets, created by local businesses and organizations as part of Logan’s Landing’s Scarecrow Row competition. The 2023 Downtown Spooktacular is scheduled from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023. (

(Usually, costumed kids of all ages participate in the Elks Halloween Parade, walking from the Logansport City Building to the State Theatre for a costume contest, but the Elks Halloween parade has been cancelled for 2023 due to the threat of rain).

Many local churches, businesses and organizations also host trunk or treat events throughout the month of October.

Downtown businesses in Logansport also have recently begun organizing a downtown pub crawl known as Ghoul’s Nite Out on the Friday before Halloween, and it’s followed by a midnight screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” at the State Theatre.
