Harbor Freight sets sights on The Junction in Logansport; Home2 Suites by Hilton scheduled to open Fall 2022
Harbor Freight Tools will open a new location in Logansport at The Junction next year. The 15,000 square foot tool store will sit just east of Dunham’s Sports and is expected to open in January. This will be Harbor Freight’s 33rd store in Indiana.
“We’re excited about this project and about this location in particular,” says Bryce Islava, Director of Real Estate at Harbor Freight. “We are excited to go head-to-head with retailers like Home Depot and Walmart. All of our brands are designed in-house so we can beat our competitors on price all day long. Our shopping experience is unique in that we can provide value to the homeowner looking to do a weekend project as well as professionals who rely on tools to make a living.”
Harbor Freight stocks a full selection of automotive tools and accessories, outdoor power equipment, generators, welding supplies, shop equipment, hand tools and more.
“Having Harbor Freight come to The Junction only adds to the excitement and commerce of our mall area,” says Bill Cuppy, president of the Logansport Cass County Chamber of Commerce. “The east end of Logansport is buzzing right now with new restaurants, retail, and a lot of progressive construction. Harbor Freight will help further spur more retail development on that end of town.”
In other news, Sulai Hospitality is set to open its Home2 Suites by Hilton on the former J.C. Penney site this fall. They are currently looking for a general manager and salesperson and will begin hiring additional staff this summer. The extended stay hotel will include studio and one-bedroom suites complete with a kitchen and workspace. Amenities will include complimentary Wi-Fi and hot breakfast.
“Construction is seventy percent complete,” says Mitesh Patel, director of Sulai Hospitality. “Like everyone else we have experienced our fair share of labor issues and supply shortages, but things are coming together now. We are excited about opening and excited about having Harbor Freight as a neighbor.”
Two national brands have also signed a letter of intent to occupy the out-lot on Market Street at The Junction. During this phase of construction, the mall façade, asphalt parking lot, and a newly approved pylon sign are also set to be installed.
The Junction is being developed by Park Development, LLC, owner of 3900 E Market Street LLC, a Chicago-based real-estate developer. Design plans for the open-air retail center call for approximately 160,000 square feet of retail space.
