Indiana Museum of Art purchases Downtown Logansport property
Logansport, IN – The Indiana Museum of Art (IMA) is excited to announce the acquisition of a prime piece of property in downtown Logansport, marking a significant step in the museum’s mission to enhance its presence and accessibility to contemporary art across Indiana. The IMA, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, completed its purchase of the former Eagles Lodge at 201 S. 6th Street, on January 8, 2025. KJG Architecture of Lafayette is preparing exterior elevations and floor plans showing the planned, extensive renovations to the building’s exterior and interior. KJG’s work is funded by a grant awarded to the IMA by the Cass County Community Foundation.
The IMA is Indiana’s only museum with a singular focus on contemporary art. The IMA’s founders, Jason Myers and Andrew Miller, envision the IMA rapidly building a reputation throughout the Midwest by leveraging Jason’s stature as an artist and his national and international relationships with artists, galleries, and museums. At the real estate closing, Myers emphasized the IMA’s commitment to fostering an appreciation for modern artistic expressions through regular exhibits of nationally and internationally acclaimed artists. Miller spoke of the IMA as a catalyst for economic development by drawing visitors, working artists, and their purchasing power to the community.
“From our first meeting, Jason and I have shared a vision of the IMA becoming an iconic image and brand for our community. Our aim is that the IMA project will be a cornerstone of Logansport’s future.”
“The purchase of this property in Logansport aligns perfectly with our vision to bring contemporary art to diverse communities throughout the state,” said Jason Myers, Director of the Indiana Museum of Art. “We recognize the importance of expanding our outreach and creating new opportunities for collaboration with local artists and cultural organizations.”
The Logansport location will allow the Indiana Museum of Art to host a variety of events, workshops, and exhibitions that reflect the dynamic nature of contemporary art. The museum is dedicated to ensuring that all people have access to cultural experiences that stimulate creativity and dialogue.
Co-Founder, Andrew Miller, stated: “As we move forward with our plans for this exciting new space, we invite the community to stay connected with us for updates on future programming and events. Together, we can cultivate a vibrant artistic environment that celebrates the uniqueness of our local cultures.”
Construction costs for the renovations are expected to exceed $3 million and will be funded through grants and private donations. The building was purchased by local private donors. Planning is underway for a public reception on February 20 at Vibrant Event Center (https://vibranteventcenter.com) to kick off the IMA’s capital campaign.
