Logansport High School unveils “Military Wall of Honor” to pay tribute to LHS Alumni

Logansport High School proudly announces the inauguration of its “Military Wall of Honor,” a distinguished display commemorating the loyalty, honor, and service of LHS graduates who have taken the Oath to serve in the United States Armed Forces. This tribute extends to individuals who have served in various branches including the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, and National Guard, in capacities ranging from enlistment to commissioning as Officers, National Guard duty, or service in the Reserves.

To be situated prominently in the main hallway, the “Military Wall of Honor” will serve as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by our alumni in uniform, safeguarding the freedoms cherished by all who walk the halls of Logansport High School.

“This display embodies the core values of freedom, patriotism, and selflessness that are deeply ingrained in the spirit of our school and community,” remarked Principal Matt Jones. “Our goal with the ‘Military Wall of Honor’ is to ensure that the sacrifices and contributions of our alumni in uniform are recognized and honored.”

Logansport High School invites alumni, families, friends, and community members to participate in this meaningful initiative by sharing details about graduates or loved ones who have served. Through an online portal, individuals can
submit information including the service member’s full name, date of birth, branch of service, dates of enlistment/ commissioning, dates of separation/retirement (if applicable), and LHS graduation year or year of last attendance.

“As young students in the 1960s at LHS, we had no idea of what life would bring us after graduation,” expressed Lenny Corso. “The word Vietnam in history class was very foreign to all of us. It did not take long before the Vietnam War would impact many of our lives in so many ways.”

Names submitted through the online portal will be vetted by LHS and LCSC personnel and subsequently installed on the Wall of Honor twice annually – in May (Military Appreciation Month) and November (around Veterans Day).

Logansport High School extends its deepest gratitude to Lenny Corso, a dedicated 1964 graduate and esteemed Army Green Beret veteran (1966-1969), for his commitment and invaluable support. Special recognition is also extended to the LHS Class of 1964 and 1967, the Marine Corps Cpl. Humberto Sanchez Family, and the LHS Alumni Association for their significant contributions to the realization of this endeavor.

The inspiration for the Logansport High School Military Wall of Honor was drawn from the admirable initiative of our friends in Porter County at Valparaiso High School.
