Logansport Utilities awarded state funding for third consecutive year

Logansport Utilities (LU) has been awarded millions of dollars in funding for the third consecutive year from the State Revolving Fund (SRF) Loan Program to support the replacement of lead water service lines throughout the city.

The SRF Loan Program provides grants and low-interest loans to Indiana communities for projects that improve wastewater and drinking water infrastructure.

LU first applied for SRF funding in 2022 and was awarded $7.1 million in grant money to begin replacing water service lines citywide in 2023. In 2024, LU received an additional $5 million, with half in grant funding and half in zero-interest loans repayable over 20 years. This year, LU has again been awarded $5 million for Phase III of the project, including $2.5 million in grants and up to $2.5 million in zero-interest loans. The utility’s ongoing goal is to replace approximately 4,500 lead service lines in Logansport,
ensuring residents have safe, clean, and reliable drinking water. Customers impacted by the
upgrades have already experienced improved water quality and increased water pressure in their
homes and businesses.

Construction bid submissions for the next phase of replacements will be accepted later this year
