Logansport Utilities planned electric outage April 22, 2023 in downtown Logansport

The Logansport Utilities’ electric department will be installing a new pole for the Erie Avenue reconstruction project on Saturday, April 22, 2023 that requires a small scheduled power outage for various businesses, traffic signals, and a few apartments in the area.

The new pole installation is happening at the corner of 5th Street and Erie Avenue. The project will begin at 6:00 a.m. and should be completed within 2 hours. The power must be turned off for crews to safely complete the work.

Traffic signals will also be affected at 3rd , 4th , and 5th Streets along Market Street. Stop signs will be in effect in those intersections.

Any apartments in the area will be affected in the early morning two-hour outage, as well as the following businesses:

Apartment residents are advised to prepare for the planned outage with the following tips:
-Have a plan to maintain use of any medical equipment dependent on electricity
-Charge cell phones
-Unplug computers, televisions, and sensitive electronics.
-Notify your home security company.
-Know how to manually operate garage doors and electric gates.
-Minimize opening refrigerator and freezer doors during the outage.
-Turn off all heat-producing appliances (stoves, toaster ovens, irons, hair curlers, etc)
