Public invited to Logansport Parks open house on June 13, 2023 for master plan work
The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department is inviting the public to participate in an Open House to participate in the 5-Year Master Planning process. The Open House will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Riverside Park’s McHale Complex. The public is invited to attend at the most convenient time for them. No specific “meeting” is being held; rather, this is an opportunity to explore ideas and share issues that should be considered.
Through interactive input stations at the Open House, the community will have an opportunity to share ideas, concerns, and general feedback on the current and future direction of the parks, and the programs that are offered to the citizens of Logansport. In addition, the public will be able to view the results of the statistically valid survey that was completed in early May. Families are especially encouraged to attend – light refreshments and a “Kids Station” will be available.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) requires an updated Master Plan every 5 years to remain eligible for certain state and federal funding opportunities. By going through this process, the Logansport Parks & Recreation Department will create a written document that spells out strategic actions that will act as a guide for sensible facility, program, and service development. This document is based upon community input and feedback through opportunities such as open houses, focus groups, surveys, and other events.
The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department is working with Context Design (Indianapolis), Zec Eight Insights (Indianapolis), and ETC Institute (Olathe, KS) to update the plan. Their goal is to complete the final planning document by November 15, 2023.
