On May 10, 2023, the Logansport Parks & Recreation Board approved Resolution 2023-02-Establishing and Naming a Dog Park at Muehlhausen Park. It will be called the Wright Street Bark Park. This is a long-time request from the public during the 2018-2022 Five-Year Master Plan. An earlier plan to build a dog park at Huston Park was scrapped because of the $750,000 expense.
The Logansport Parks Department worked with the Logansport Parks & Recreation Foundation to apply for a Patronicity Grant that will utilize the former softball field at Muehlhausen Park as the new Wright Street Bark Park to approximately $70,000 — half from the grant and the other half coming from the crowd-funding campaign that supports it..
The crowdfunding campaign ran from June 13 – August 13, 2023. If successful, the project led by Logansport Parks & Recreation Foundation will receive a matching grant as part of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s (IHCDA) CreatINg Places program.
Construction began the first week of October 2023, with a Spring 2024 grand opening anticipated.
